Art Inspires...

Sometimes selling one of my large assemblage sculptures  is bittersweet. I'm so pleased when someone loves the work as much as I do, but sometimes I get that twinge of regret letting it go and knowing I'll never see it again. On occasion the fit is so perfect with the buyer that it is just as sweet as it can get. This is the case with the sale of "Lost Treasure". This piece was sold last month to a board member of UNICEF. It will be shown to inspire contributors to support the extremely important work of protecting and securing the future of children all around the world.

This is my dream.... to use my art to inspire goodness, beauty and conversation in a world that is thirsty for peace and understanding.  Au revoir.... to "Lost Treasure" with a kiss and a blessing.

Yea! New Classes!!

Where has the time gone!! Oh yeah..... I have been busy busy working on some new fun classes for CraftArtEdu. The first class is titled" Sand Paper Poly Peel Photo Frames" These funky frames are soooo much fun to make, especially because of this new technique" Sand Paper Poly Peel" which is one of my favs!!!

The second class(coming soon) is titled " Lady Luck Pendants" as Bonnie Raitt says "I'll be your talisman, I'll be your lucky star, put it in your pocket, put it in your heart". I say..... wear it around your neck or give it to someone who will cherish it coming from you.

Nostalgia

I just finished this mixed media piece.....I think I'll go call my mom... Title: Nostalgia

For some of us, the idea of returning to our past, especially our childhood has a certain push and pull that leaves us wanting. Feelings of belonging and security are comforting but give way to the reality of the present. Memories of happenings good or bad are dusted ever so carefully with a touch of fantasy, and remembrance mixed with nostalgia makes us long for that perception of what once was.

The Guardian

I've just finished the project that I've been working on while taking Michael deMeng's texture  class. What a fun adventure it's been. Title: The Guardian

We all need someone to lean on... someone we can depend on to look out for us, to give us strength and encouragement. A friend,  parent, neighbor, spouse, someone that "has our back" as they say or would "go to bat" for us. Wealth can be described in many ways, but there is no price tag for loyalty and devotion. This fierce guardian is ready to give her all to protect and defend. I'm glad she is on my side.

Now a word from our sponsor.... New class at Craft Edu. opens Nov. 16, 2011 (just Google Craft Edu.com and go to classes)

Nov. 16-17 the class will be 35.00 after that it will still be available for 45.00

This project is uniquely suited to the full range of your imagination. Choose shapes, colors, and embellishments that reflect your own style and level of expertise. Poly Fiber Masking is a beautiful and unique background for projects large and small. The goal is a hard, secure, binding , polymer friendly background for your work that will not crack, peel, chip or shrink.

This Poly Fiber Masking technique was used as the background for all of the pieces for "Holding It Together". ( This is the title of the piece that I am working on.....

My first class is now up and running at Craft Edu. I decided to start with a very basic introduction to caning class. This class is a good foundation for simple canes. The title of the class is "Kinder Canes". The definition of a Kinder Cane is any cane that you can teach to a child with success and satisfaction. Check it out! http://bit.ly/jkB0Kf

This is a very simple Mandala that I made using the canes that I am teaching in the "Kinder Cane" class. Here is the link to the preview of the class.

Here are three new wall pieces... smaller than others but just as rewarding to work on. Title: Eye On The Prize

Opinions and ideas change throughout our lives. Beliefs and loyalties can even take unrecognizable shapes. Keeping our eye on the prize of our authentic self we can be grounded in personal truth.

Title: Que Sera,Sera

Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be will be. Or will it? We can depend on the direction of the wind, a saying on a fortune cookie or the prediction of our astrological sign to determine our future or we can make the hard choices to secure our own deserved destiny.

Title: Bohemian Nouveau

I am drawn to the wandering nontraditional nature of the Bohemian, which is evident in the shapes and layers of color and the intermingling of techniques. I am captivated by the beautiful flowing scrolls, floral motifs and distinct design elements of the Art Nouveau era. Together they seem to merge into a style and feeling that reflect my own life experience.

Happy St. Patty's Day! I feel lucky to see green grass today !

Title: He said, she said

This piece was such a delight to create. You know... some things just come together without a struggle... or it feels like it just flows like a puzzle putting itself together... almost faster than you can keep up. What a rush!
